Pontic Kingdom. Mithradates VI, 120-63 BC., in the name of Lysimachos. Gold Stater (8.41 g), Kallatis mint, struck c. 88-86 BC. Head of deified Alexander the Great right, diademed, with horn of Ammon. Reverse: Athena enthroned left, elbow resting on shield, holding Nike in extended hand; HPO monogram below arm, KAΛ on throne. AMNG 258. Nicely centered, with obverse in late die state -- the wear and rust being apparent. Marks on Athena's head indicative of overstriking? Essentially as struck. Lustrous. Extremely Fine.
