Lot 214

1794 Flowing Hair Half Dime. NGC graded AU-55. Lilac gray in color and quite pleasing in appearance. Traces of luster in the fields, and some desirable blue colors around the edge. Clean surfaces with no adjustment marks or other problems, but we do note a dull scrape on the truncation of Liberty, and another tiny scrape in the field before her face. An early die state before the crack forms on the right side of the Y, but the tiny crack is present from the dentil left of the M and the die crack (die scratch?) connecting the eagle's feet. Certainly high in the condition census for the variety, and this one is possibly tied with a few others as the finest reported of the variety. Needless to say, an important opportunity for the half dime specialist.
Estimated Value $6,500-UP.
