Lot 3443

1882. J-1690 P-1892, R-5+. Pattern Five Cent, Nickel, Plain edge. . J-1690. . P-1892. NGC graded Proof 58. This is the exact type of 1883, although the obverse stars are differently arranged. Apparently, this one was so much like the regular issue, that someone spent it for a nickel! The surfaces show light wear on the uppermost points of the design. A coin that would fit perfectly in with a high grade Liberty nickel date collection, as this was obviously the adopted prototype to the 1883 regular issue.
Estimated Value $3,000 - 4,000.

Realized $3,335
