Lot 835

Porcelain Figure of Napoleon. Probably early 20th century Italian. Figure height: 14", with wooden base: 16½". Two marks visible on base of figure: "A.G." (incised) and "N" with a stylized crown (painted). Very good condition, no chips or scratches, on a walnut stained base with an enlaureled "N" affixed.

An impressive piece featuring Napoleon astride a white stallion, his red cape swirling about his shoulders. The curiously tall, leading-man handsome Napoleon portrayed here looks ready to conquer the world with his rugged good looks -- obviously a romanticized image inspired by David's Napoleon Crossing the Saint Bernard.
Estimated Value $300 - 400.

Realized $242
