1898 Barber Quarter Dollar. NGC graded Proof 66 Cameo. If you need just one type coin of the Barber quarter series for your set, then this is one to consider. The toning is superb, with deep gold and rose hues with the devices highly frosted. While the "cameo" designation is reserved for the coins that have the most mint frost and deepest mirror fields, this one is even further enhanced by the deep toning which increases the effect. Further, it is an 1898, one of the years that Philadelphia really got it right, and this is an example of their finest hour. Only 3 have been graded this high, with 11 graded higher by NGC. PCGS does not differentiate between the regular and cameo issues. A pristine example for the quality conscious numismatist.
