Lot 580

1880 Liberty Seated Quarter Dollar. PCGS graded Proof 66. Blazing white frost on the devices and with deeply mirrored fields. A superb coin, just 25 have been graded this high by PCGS, with 16 graded higher. Further, this is a very rare coin, it employs the reverse used in 1872 (Type I, see Breen's Encyclopedia) and is quickly identified by the cut in the shield on the left side. Few survive with the Type I reverse, and perhaps a specialist would be interested in this magnificent gem.
Estimated Value $2,000 - 2,400.

Realized $2,990
