Lot 463

1829 Capped Bust Half Dime. . Val-16. SEGS graded AU-55. This die variety remains very scarce since its discovery by John W. McCloskey in 1975. The diagnostics are the recut top of the 1 in the date, and an extra serif between the CA of AMERICA. As to the coin, the surfaces show light gold toning and some luster remains. An opportunity for the half dime variety specialist to upgrade or finally purchase a high grade example of this challenging variety. Certainly well up in the Condition Census for the variety, with only a single mint state coin reported.
Estimated Value $200-UP.

Realized $483
