Lot 380

1858 Silver Three Cents. NGC graded Proof 67. This coin is tied for the finest known with 2 other pieces, all NGC graded PF-67. There are none graded this high by PCGS for the date. On the obverse, the toning is light gold, while the reverse has a richer gold tone throughout. Outstanding surfaces throughout, with no signs of handling or other problems. There are two very minor breaks in the mirror field below the T of UNITED, near the star, and these are likely mint caused. Each tiny reverse star, as well as the obverse star, is bold. Note a small area of the lower left of the obverse star is missing part of its outer pair of lines where they were polished off the die. A stunning coin that will be the highlight of any advanced proof trime collection.
Estimated Value $13,000 - 15,000.
