Theodosius II, 402-450 AD. Gold Solidus (4.4 g), Thessalonica mint, struck c. 403-408 AD. Rare. Helemeted and cuirassed bust of Theodosius three quarters facing, holding spear and shield. Reverse: Emperor, in military attire, standing frontal and holding standard and globus cruciger; star in left field. RIC 362. Well centered, the obverse a bit softly struck (with start of small die break), the reverse sharp and bold. Fully lustrous. Extremely Fine.
