Honorius, 393-423 AD. Gold Solidus (4.5 g), 'Sirmium' mint, struck 395-397 AD. Diademed, draped, and cuirassed bust of Honorius right. Reverse: Emperor holding labarum and Victory, trodding upon captive at feet; S M in field. RIC 2. Along with another gold Solidus (4.5 g), of Theodosius II, Constantinople, struck 430-440 AD.: Helmeted, diademed, and cuirassed bust three-quarters facing, holding spear and shield Reverse: Constantinopolis enthroned left, holding globus cruciger. RIC 257; DOCLR 379ff. The Honorius, sharply struck, but ex jewelry. The second, double striking or overstriking, mainly evident in the periphery of some of the inscriptions. Flan a bit wavey. Lot of 2 coins. The Honorius, with the sharpness of about Extremely Fine; Theodosius, a bold Very Fine.
