Lot 1570

1888 $20 Liberty. PCGS graded MS-61. The reverse die is obviously doubled, with a slight shift visible on many of the letters. While not as dramatic as on the 1955 cent, double dies are scarce and seldom encountered on gold coins. The surfaces show light toning and the usual bagmarks from handling. Liberty's cheek has no deep gouges or other detractions though. This coin is in a PCGS Prestige holder, with the "Doubled Die Reverse" noted on the holder. Rare and not listed in most reference works.
Estimated Value $1,250-UP.

Realized $1,035
