Lot 1181

1878. PCGS graded Proof 65. Lovely light blue and gold toning throughout. This is the final year of issue for this denomination, which came to a quick and sudden end after just four years in production (two of those years are Proof only coinage). Here is one of the finer examples from this meager issue, and combined with the quality is the splendid toning. A simply elegant example that will grace any numismatic cabinet lucky enough to secure it when the hammer falls. Only 600 struck. Pop 27; 12 finer, 11 in 66, 1 in 67. (PCGS # 5306) .
Estimated Value $7,000 - 7,500.

Realized $7,931
