Great Britain. Norman Kings of England. AR Penny, ND (London, struck c. 1074-1077). North-845; S-1254. 1.31 grams. William I, 1066-1087 AD. Two Stars type. Moneyer, Godwin. Central circle, within a crowned, draped and mustachioed bust facing, star to either side; +PILELM REX II around. Reverse: Central circle, within cross botonnee with annulet center, over quadrilateral with curved sides and pellet apexes: +GODPI ON LVND around. Superior strike, on a full, choice flan of good metal. Medium silvery, warm or bluish gray toning, with pinks and russets in some of the recesses. Choice example of type. Rare in this grade. NGC graded MS-62.
