Great Britain. Kings of Wessex. AR Penny. A stylish and exceptional Anglo-Saxon issue -- a famous specimen: North-660; S-1079. 1.55 grams. Edward the Elder, 899-924. Flower type. Central circle, small cross pattee within; +EADVVEARD REX around. Reverse: Large lis comprised of linear foral elements, with semicircular sides; name, BV GA within. Excellent strike on choice metal. Artistic, old medium to deep gray toning. Extremely Rare. NGC graded AU-55.
