Uruguay. Peso "Fuerte", 1844 (Montevideo). Eliz-1; WR-1; KM-5. 26.43 grams. Quartered arms of Uraguay, with rising sun at top, surrounded by wreath of oak. Reverse: Value within circle of nine stars. Sharp, full strike. A few light marks, otherwise surfaces are quite pristine. Fields softly lustrous to semi-reflective - with good cartwheel effect. Lightly toned. Rare in this state of preservation.

Occasionally some of these coins have been found to be overstruck on U.S. dollars and Latin American pesos. NGC graded MS-64.
