Peru. Republic. 8 Reales, 1851-MB (Lima). WR-23; Eliz-162; KM-142.10. 26.88 grams. Barre Liberty type. Tripartite shield of arms flanked by wreath, and crowned above by oak wreath. Reverse: Pallas Athene, as Liberty wearing peaked cap, stands frontal holding upright spear, one hand rests on shield. Choice business strike. Lustrous and quite clean for series. Light to medium smoky artistic toning, with fine coloring in the recesses - more so on the reverse. An appealing example. Rare.

Rare variant with "roped" edge, occurring in the last three years of issue. NGC graded MS-62.
