Peru. 8 Escudos, 1812-JP (Lima). Fr-48; KM-118. 26.88 grams. Ferdinand VII, 1808-1833. Large draped and laureate bust of Ferdinand right. Reverse: Crowned arms, Order of Golden Fleece around. Choice, fully struck centers, with only modest weakness at 3 o'clock obverse / 9 o'clock reverse edges. Some minor lamination and metal flaws on planchet reverse. Otherwise, brilliant proof-like fields, with lustrous devices, and dignified portrait. Rare in this grade. One year type, and one of the finest known. NGC graded MS-61.
