Peru. 8 Escudos, 1772 -JM (Lima). Fr-32; KM-82.2. 26.93 grams. Charles III, 1759-1788. Late standard bust. Draped and cuirassed bust of Charles III right, wearing Order of Golden Fleece. Reverse: Crowned arms, Order of Golden Fleece around. Centers faintly soft, but still well detailed and lustrous. The fields proof-like, with reverse die beginning to show traces of rust. Rare mintmark error with positions of mint and moneyer transposed. Very Rare in this grade. Probably among the finest known of this two year type. NGC graded AU-58.
