Reference Lot. Six volume set of Appleton's Cyclopaedia of American Biography, New York: D. Appleton and Company, 1887-89. With 61 steel engravings of eminent Americans. Cover to Vol. I is loose; some edge wear to covers, else very good. An exceptional reference tool, hard to find these days. Also in this lot and all in fine condition: The Stein and Day Book of World Autographs by Ray Rawlins (1978); Corresponding with history. The Art & Benefits of Collecting Autographs by John E. Schlimm II (1997); Collecting Book and Pamphlets Signed by the Presidents by Stephen Koschal (1982 - signed); a privately-printed pamphlet by Charles Hamilton, The Strange History of How F.D. Roosevelt Met With the Devil, inscribed in 1960 by Hamilton; and an autograpah catalogue (No. 152) from dealer Joe Rubinfine.
