Lot 92

1800 C-1 R2. PCGS graded MS-63 Brown. Choice lustrous steel brown and light olive with underlying mellowed mint red covering at least 20% of the planchet. A beautiful example in every respect. The only marks are a tiny planchet chip at the dentils off the bust tip and a fine scratch-like planchet line through the leaf tips under the first A in AMERICA. M-LDS, Manley state 4.0. The curl left of the date is incomplete due to die polishing. Our grade is consistent with the slab grade, perhaps slightly better. The PCGS label includes the Cohen-1 die variety and Carvin Goodridge provenance. PCGS population 1; the only one graded for the variety at PCGS (#35119).
Estimated Value $3,500-UP.
Ex 1988 ANA Sale, Heritage 7/20/1988:29 (lot ticket included).
