Lot 846

1848 Coronet Head Cent. . N-19, R6-. NGC graded Proof 64 Brown. Proof-Only Variety. Dark bluish steel brown and chocolate with undertones of iridescent rose from very faded mint color on the obverse. The surfaces are covered with a thin layer of natural oxidation that limits the reflectivity of the fields, but there are no spots, stains, or obvious hairlines. The only marks are a couple vertical planchet creases on the obverse. These show from the hair over BE in LIBERTY down to the ear with another short one on the chin. They are planchet marks that didn't completely strike out and should not be mistaken for post-striking scratches. EAC grade Proof-60. Pop 1; the only brown proof graded at NGC.
Estimated Value $5,000 - 7,500.

Realized $9,200
