1916 Liberty Standing Quarter Dollar. PCGS graded MS-62 Full Head PQ. White and frosty. Here, we are pleased to describe a very choice 1916 standing Liberty quarter whose smooth cartwheel luster adorns the faint toned surfaces. Reasonable detail with perhaps minor weakness to the shield and body elements of Liberty. Just the same the coin is splendidly beautiful for the date, this issue is from a unique hub-die association where the design elements are soft, almost impressionistic in their relief. For some reason, the mint reworked the master hub extensively for the 1917 Type 1 pieces, leaving the 1916 not only the key date in the series (52,000 mintage), but also technically a one-year variety because of the changes introduced the next year. PCGS reports 19 at this level. (PCGS # 5705) .
Estimated Value $15,000 - 17,500.
