Lot 707

1842 N-5 R3 Large Date PCGS graded MS63 Brown. Beautiful lustrous medium bluish steel brown and chocolate with 5% of the obverse showing mellowed mint color while 20% of the reverse is covered with faded mint red. The surfaces of this cent are satiny and it offers excellent eye appeal. The only notable defects are a couple light diagonal nicks between the end of the chin and star 2 and microscopic specks of darker toning around TED-ST. EDS, die state a, with very fine die lines at the throat and a microscopic die line from the dentils over the left side of the R in AMERICA. The top of a stray 4 is clearly visible in the dentils under the left side of the normal 4. A very nice example of this variety. Our grade is MS62, CC#6 in the Grellman census. Pop 42; 57 finer at PCGS. Estimate Value $750 - UP
