Lot 696

1851 N-34 R4. AU-58. Glossy chocolate and light olive brown with traces of faded mint red on both sides. Some slightly lighter brown toning covers the field between stars 3 & 4. The only contact mark is a tiny pinscratch right of the D in UNITED. Just a hint of friction on the highest points from mint state. Rare EDS, die state a, with fine die lines at TES-OF. Both dies display the always-present dull features that resulted from improper die preparation. A very nice example of this curious variety. Tied for CC#7 overall but second finest of the rare early die state.
Estimated Value $400-UP.
