Lot 684

1838 Liberty Seated Quarter Dollar. PCGS graded MS-62 PQ. No Drapery. Light golden toning. This is one of the shortest-lived types in the entire Seated Quarter series of 1838-1891. Examples without extra folds of drapery at Liberty's elbow were made solely in 1838 and 1839 at the Philadelphia Mint, with a single 1840-dated issue from New Orleans. This No Drapery design differs from the following Drapery design in other regards, most noticeably the proportions of Liberty's figure and the size of the rock upon which she sits. Faithful to every detail from a full blow by the dies, with only marginal softness found at the stars. Attractive color. Pop 20; 31 better. (PCGS # 5391) .
Estimated Value $2,500 - 3,000.

Realized $4,025
