Lot 617

1848 N-32 R5 VF20. Sharpness EF45 but dark and covered with uniform microscopic porosity under the frosty dark olive patina. No marks or notable signs of verdigris. EDS. The die crack from the second S in STATES through the wreath and RI in AMERICA to the rim above is light. Not perfect but certainly one of the sharpest examples known of this rare variety. Tied for CC#2 in the Grellman census.
