Lot 538

1848 N-29 R3 F15. Ten points sharper but there is very fine roughness in the fields and traces of shallow crud caked into the protected areas. Several hairline scratches are hidden in the patina in the obverse fields. Rather glossy dark chocolate brown with lighter brown toning covering the highpoints. Very rare LDS, die state d, with strong rim cud breaks from under the end of the wreath ribbon up to UN in UNITED. Only 9 examples are known with these rim cuds, and the cuds are considerably less prominent on many of those.
Estimated Value $80-UP.

Realized $311
