Lot 518

1909-S. VDB. PCGS graded MS-64 Red. Nice red example of this key date cent with minor wood-grain effect across the portrait from the copper alloy in the planchet. Full glowing red color, with a slightly weak impression left by the rebound of the (possibly worn) dies that struck this '09-S VDB. Note the merging of his ear with Lincoln's hair along the top curve, as well as the soft appearance of the bow tie. Still, a very choice impression from the dies, all things considered (PCGS # 2428) .
Estimated Value $3,500 - 4,000.
