Liberation (Judaea Capta-Israel Liberata), Precursor to State Gold Medal, 1958, 27mm. 15 gm, 916 fine. 10,000 minted. The very first gold medal issued by Israel (Tenth Anniversary of Israel Committee). Features design from a Roman Judaea Capta coin issued by Vespasian in 70 CE, at the conclusion of the First Revolt, contrasting with a scene of a Jewish pioneer planting a sapling and a mother holding her baby.
