Pontic Kingdom. Mithradates VI, the "Great", 120- 63 BC. Gold Stater (8.53 g). Kallatis mint, struck c. 88-86 BC., during the First Mithradatic War. Head of deified Alexander the Great right, with horn of Ammon. Reverse: Athena Nikephoros enthroned left; KAΛ on throne, CW below elbow; trident in exergue. De Callatay p. 140 (same obverse die: D6); cf., SNG Cop 1089 var. (different monogram). Nicely centered and fully struck, the obverse from usual worn, somewhat rusty die. Sharp for issue, and very lustrous. Extremely Fine.
