France - Merovingian. Silver Denier (c.670 -750 AD). 1.23 grams. Said to be Paris/Ecclesiastic mint. Mec I #591 var.; Roberts variant see #471-478, 280/283. Obverse: Within parallel bars cross above frame A with pellets in center field. Reverse: ER (Racio Ecclesiae), cross and four pellets above. Rare. Very Fine.
