Lot 325

1877 Indian Head Cent. NGC graded Proof 65 Red & Brown. Nice colors on both sides. Only 900+ Proofs minted. While no clear-cut mintage figure exists for this key date, it is thought that some 900 Proofs were struck, as part of both complete Proof sets and "minor" Proof sets containing the cent, three-cent, and nickel coinage -- as well as some that must have been sold as singles over the counter at the Philadelphia Mint. This is very well preserved Gem sporting deeply reflective Proof mirrors in the fields. Both original mint red and mellow golden iridescence, deepening to vibrant blue on the reverse, compete for color dominance on this extremely praiseworthy coin. Fully struck throughout. Pop 11; 1 finer in 66RB.
Estimated Value $5,000 - 5,500.

Realized $6,613
