1895 Morgan Dollar. NGC graded Proof 65. Beautiful lilac and blue toning on both sides. It has been commented on by numismatists that Mint records indicate 12,000 business strike Morgan Dollars were delivered in 1895. However, not a single specimen has surfaced. Either all were stored at the Mint and subsequently melted, or the coins delivered were not dated 1895. Regardless of which turns out to be true, the deficiency of business strike 1895 Morgan dollars has put the Proofs of this year in the limelight, as it were. A rarity and one whose desirability in today's hobby is famous. Without a doubt, a Gem Proof 1895 like the coin presently being offered, is the lynch-pin to collecting this long-lived and widely regarded series of large silver coins. We are pleased to offer a sparkling quality coin whose surface shines with reflectivity as the light plays across it. Interesting natural toning hues are seen at all angles with some deeper glints of blue tones on both sides. Boldly struck with no aberrant marks or hairlines. Only 880 proofs. Pop 31; 37 finer; 23 in 66; 2 in 67; 2 in 68. (PCGS # 7330) .
Estimated Value $45,000 - 50,000.

Realized $57,500
