Lot 309

1825 C-2 R1 VG10. Flipover Triple Strike. A couple points sharper but covered with extremely fine roughness, mostly on the reverse. No marks or verdigris. This piece was struck at least three times and was flipped over once. The evidence of these events is sparse but strong. The "T" from CENT is positioned atop the curl on the neck, and it is obvious to the unaided eye. In addition, there is a leaf on the bust tip, and it is clear as well. The "T" and leaf could not have been from the same strike; hence a minimum of three strikes were required. There is no trace of an extra impression on the reverse, so explaining exactly what happened here is out of the question. M-LDS, Manley state 2.0. Davy #25.2.16.
Estimated Value $200-UP.
Ex Don Valenziano 1/13/2000.
