Lot 2959

"IRVING HOUSE" (Hunt & Nash) EP-150, HB-155, S-110 12¢. Fr-EP-150. This is a very rare variety, with perhaps as few as four of five pieces known to have survived for collectors today. The mica is completely missing, which presents the issue that the stamp could have theoretcially been added or replaced. There is nothing to indicate that this was the case, although the stamp is somewhat soiled and wrinkled. The case itself is untampered and is actually very high grade with a lovely even tan appearance. An important offering for the specialist. Extremely Fine.
Estimated Value $1,900 - 2,000.
Ex: Early American History Auctions (private treaty) The Samuel J. Berngard Collection.
