Lot 2898

"J. GAULT" EP-16, HB-126, S-93, 1¢ Plain frame. Fr-EP-16. This is a much scarcer variety, with the Reed reference estimating it as R7 with between 11 and 15 pieces surviving. The stamp is bright blue and the mica is nearly completely clear, with only the faintest hints of crazing at the edges. The case is an even light brown color; it shows some minor tooling inside the rim at the base of the reverse, indicating that the stamp was either replaced or the case was improperly assembled. In any case, this is a rare piece that should fill a hole in any advanced collection. Extremely Fine.
Estimated Value $800 - 1,000.
