Bar Kochba Revolt, 132-135 AD. AE Middle bronze (25 mm.), Year 1, struck 132/33 AD. . Hen-678. A superb example from what is perhaps the most stylish dies in this series. Seven-branched palm tree, with two bunches of dates; Hebrew inscription across field ("Shim'on, Prince of Israel"). Reverse: Vine leaf on branch; Hebrew inscription around ("Year One of the Redemption of Israel"). Hendin 678; AJC II, p. 265, 5; Mild. 34. Beautifully centered and boldly struck, on slightly oval flan of good metal. Good dark gray-olive patina, with slight earthen highlights. Choice Extremely Fine.
