Lot 2490

Magnus Maximus, AD 383-388. AR Siliqua minted at Treveri. Diademed, cuirassed and draped bust right of Magnus Maximus. Reverse: Roma enthroned, head left, holding globe and reversed spear. RIC 84(b); C. 30. NGC graded AU: Strike 5/5; Surface 2/5, scratches.

While there are hairline scratches on the obverse cheek, the lines in the fields appear to be mint-made, die-strengthening file marks. Just another mystery hidden by the plastic entombment.
Estimated Value $150 - 200.

Realized $368
