Philippines. Countermark 8 Escudo (1832-1834). KM-141.1; Reference to this coin is made by P.I. de Jesus "Counterstamped coins of the Philippines" Philippine Numismatic Monographs, Number 16, August, 1966, page 19, 197. The coin bears the countermark of Isabella II, introduced after the death of Ferdinand VII on December 20, 1834. Countermarking ceased altogether following a further edict of March 31, 1837. Crowned Y.II countermark on a Gold Columbia Bogota 8 Escudos, 1831 RS. Mounted at the top. Excessively rare. Host coin and counterstamp, About Very Fine.
