Lot 205

1847 N-18 R5 Repunched Date with Large 7 over Medium 7 AU50. Five points sharper with a tiny dig under the wreath ribbon. The only other marks are a tiny speck of reddish brown verdigris under star 6 and another below the 4. Otherwise this cent is virtually flawless and the eye appeal is outstanding. Nice glossy golden tan and light brown with hints of very faded mint red on the reverse. E-MDS, die state a. The date repunching is sharp on all 4 digits and the obverse rim is unbroken. The so-called "Large 7 over Medium 7" feature is strong. CC#10 in the Grellman census. Comes with a very nice provenance. DWH #2066.
Estimated Value $500-UP.
