1871 Quarter Dollar Octagonal. Breen and Gillio-714. Rarity 3. PCGS graded MS-65. Old green holder. Light even golden toning accompanied by Gem quality surfaces on both sides. The stars are rather crudely formed. Cruder in their engraving and manufacture, and far more exotic in their designs, Period Two gold pieces were collectable from their inception according to historians of this series. Pop 38; 24 finer, 23 in 66, 1 in 67 (PCGS # 10541) .
