Tenniel, Sir John (1820-1914) Cartoonist for Punch magazine; illustrator for Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland (1865) and Through the Looking-Glass (1871). Autograph Letter Signed "John Tenniel" on personal stationery, 1½ pp, Maida Hill, W., 26 June 1888. A charming letter to painter William Powell Frith, giving Frith permission to mention him in his book (Further Reminiscences). "…Please do with me anything you like…my 'character'…will be perfectly safe in your hands!"
