1848 N-7 R2 PCGS graded MS64+ Red & Brown, CAC Approved. Bright original mint red fading to steel brown, more than half the red remaining. There is a small spot of darker brown toning at the bottom of star 7, a small spot of very fine carbon just right of star 1, and a smooth planchet chip on the rim left of star 2, as struck. Otherwise this cent is flawless. MDS, die state b. A small lump has formed on the bottom edge of the curl over the left side of the second 8 and the fields are covered with fine radial die flowlines. A very attractive red & brown cent. Our grade is MS63, CC#4 for the die variety in the Grellman census. This cent is plated inside the front cover of the second (2001) edition of the Grellman book on late date cents. The attribution and Iskra provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 1; 1 finer in 65 for the variety at PCGS. Estimated Value $1,000-UP
