Lot 1354

1928. PCGS graded MS-65. Light golden toning. Always frosty for the issue when high quality Mint State, as seen here, the mellow-gold surface is nearly superb with few distracting bagmarks. We note a couple under the Indian's nose and at the throat. Furthermore, unlike the general run of pieces of this caliber, the strike is extremely convincing in all places, even where some weakness is expected at the feather ends. Pop 269; 1 in 65+; 10 in 66 (PCGS # 7952) .

Historic Note: To get some idea what a $2.50 gold coin was worth in 1928, a new edition (hardbound) of Albert Jay Nock's biography "Jefferson" had a cover price of $2.75 that year.
Estimated Value $2,200 - 2,300.

Realized $2,128
