1846 N-3 R2 Repunched Date EF45. Glossy reddish brown and chocolate, the obverse a couple shades lighter than the reverse. The obverse may have been lightly cleaned and retoned long ago, but the eye appeal is excellent. No notable contact marks, but there are a couple dozen tiny parallel diagonal specks of darker toning on the obverse caused by planchet impurities, the largest of these at the upper right point of star 12. LDS, die state g, with rim cud breaks at TATES-OF-A. Tied for CC#3 of 8 known in this nearly terminal die state. The repunching on the 4 remains clear at the left end of the crossbar. Removed from an NCS slab graded UNC details environmental damage (NCS label included, and it shows the attribution and Reiver provenance). DWH #2973.
