Lot 1095

1796 S-103 R4+ LIHERTY Obverse. VG-8 Plus. Draped Bust. Sharpness F12 but the obverse is covered with very fine granularity and there are microscopic traces of fine reddish verdigris dusted into protected areas on that side. The reverse is smooth, nearly flawless, and grades a solid F12. The only marks are a few faint hairline scratches hidden in the obverse patina. Slightly glossy chocolate brown with reddish chocolate toning in protected areas of the obverse. The date and legends are complete and strong, including the LIHERTY feature (actually B over inverted B resulting in what looks like an H). EDS, Breen state I. Not perfect but still quite nice for this rare and popular variety.
Estimated Value $600 - 800.
Ex Herb Silberman-Ed Sarhan 1971-Thomas Wolf.

Realized $1,006
