Steel-Hilted Horse Head Dagger and Scabbard, India 19th Century. A beautiful example of koftgari work, this curved, double-edged steel (jawhar) blade decorated at the fort with gold overlay floral motifs, scrolling leafy tendrils, a pommel in the form of a horse's head, also boasting astonishing detailed accuracy in the inlays and a cloth-covered wooden scabbard with a similarly decorated chape. Dagger itself in excellent condition, scabbard is splitting about one inch on either side at curve of scabbard, still quite fine. $1,500 - 2,000
