Lot 94

1800 C-1 R2 G5. Double Struck. The obverse is a bit better while the reverse is weaker and has traces of fine roughness on the left side. Glossy olive with lighter steel brown toning on the devices. Double struck on the obverse with a rotation of 15-20 degrees between the impressions. Obvious wide doubling shows from the top of the head to the throat. The reverse shows no trace of a second strike, which suggests it was pressed into a new blank planchet during the second strike, thereby creating a reverse brockage on the new planchet.
Estimated Value $100-UP.
Ex Bowers & Ruddy 4/23/1979:96.
