Lot 80

1808/7 C-2 R3 Overdate 8 over 7. VF-30. Ten points sharper with several faint hairline scratches meandering about in the field before the face and neck, plus four dull pinpricks or small nicks in among the fine scratches. These four small contact marks are the only defects visible to the unaided eye, and the eye appeal of this piece is excellent otherwise. The portrait was very lightly smoothed for an unknown reason. Glossy chocolate and olive brown with frosty lighter brown in protected areas, especially on the reverse. The reverse is choice. EDS, Manley state 1.0, without a die crack at TY in LIBERTY. The overdate is bold.
Estimated Value $2,500 - 3,500.
Ex Chris McCawley 7/88.

Realized $5,060
