Lot 784

1836 N-3 R1. PCGS graded MS-63 Red & Brown. CAC Approved. Lustrous light steel brown with about 20% of the bright original mint color remaining. There are a few small spots of darker toning in the dentils at star 1 and a collection of tiny marks (perhaps pre-striking) on the truncation and lowest curl into the field over the date. The reverse is flawless. VEDS with hard, very slightly reflective fields. The repunching on the I in UNITED is sharp and the fine die line down from the M in AMERICA is clear. A rare die state. Graded MS63 by Del Bland. Our grade is MS62+. The attribution and Ralls provenance are shown on the PCGS label. PCGS population 1; 1 finer in 66. (PCGS # 37118) .
Estimated Value $500-UP.
Ex Bob Everett-Del Bland-Dr. Philip W. Ralls.
